Founding Member of Bon Jovi Dies

Alex Such was the bassist for Bon Jovi, as one of the original band members. He played for the band from 1983 to 1994, he was 70 years old when he passed. Although, it is still unclear what the cause of his death was.

Bon Jovi posted on their Twitter account. They express their remorse over his death, and how they had gravitated towards each other thanks to their shared passion for music. They also spoke about their respect for Alec, being one of the founders of the band. To them, Bon Jovi would never have been the same without him.

“We are heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of our dear friend Alec John Such. He was an original. As a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec was integral to the formation of the band,” wrote Bon Jovi. “To be honest, we found our way to each other thru him — He was a childhood friend of Tico [Torres] and brought Richie [Sambora] to see us perform. Alec was always wild and full of life. Today these special memories bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. We will miss him dearly.”

“RIP my soul brother…. It was an honor and pleasure to share the stage and to share life with you…..” This was a tweet made separately by David Bryan. He was the band’s keyboard player, and the man who enlisted Alec into the band from the start.

Remembering Alec

Before he was a band member, he was the manager at the Hunka Bunka Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey. He had the opportunity to book the band, Bon Jovi, to play one night. It was after that night that John joined the band, and he remained with them throughout their best years. In 1994 he left the band but rejoined in 2018 when the band was given the honor of being highlighted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

“When Jon Bon Jovi called me up and asked me to be in his band many years ago, I soon realized how serious he was and he had a vision that he wanted to bring us to, and I am only too happy to have been a part of that vision,” said John during his induction speech. He continued to express his love for each of the band members. “These guys are the best. We had so many great times together and we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for those guys. Love them to death and always will.”
