‘Meghan won’t be back. She disliked England’ – ex-Vanity Fair editor

Former editor of Vanity Fair Tina Brown has claimed that Meghan Markle didn’t like living in England. She adds that Prince Harry may return to the Royal Family after the queen’s passing; but Meghan Markle will choose to stay in the United States. “I think that Harry is going to want to come back when the Queen dies to serve his country,” she states. “And I think they will find a way to reel him in. And it’s possible that Meghan – maybe they will have a commuter arrangement. I don’t know. I don’t see Meghan ever wanting to go back. She disliked England.”

They actually need Harry and Meghan now”

Brown continues her claims, saying, “I actually think there is a Harry-shaped hole in the Royal Family now. And Harry was beloved by the British people. And people adored Meghan when she came into the mix. So it was actually very, very sad for everybody that it went so wrong because they actually need Harry and Meghan now.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle emancipated from the Royal Family in January 2020. Then they moved to California, where Markle had lived previously. Harry returned to the UK for his grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral in April 2021. Meanwhile, Meghan was pregnant at the time and was advised to avoid traveling by her doctor. The couple hasn’t been to London since. [1]

However, it’s unclear if the couple will attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this year. But Brown urges them to reconsider on Sway, the New York Times podcast. She appeared to promote her new book The Palace Papers: Inside The House Of Windsor – The Truth And The Turmoil. “You should see, the Queen is failing, and she’s very frail. They kind of need Harry and Meghan to bring that star power and to be on the balcony at the Jubilee. We have to have a Royal Family up there. We can’t have Prince Andrew up there.”

Prince Andrew, 61, recently received infamy over accusations saying he had raped a teenager in 2001. His friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein is especially damning. Especially since the accuser, Virginia Giuffre, claimed that Epstein had trafficked her to Andrew. This accusation was brought up in a federal lawsuit against Epstein in 2015; Giuffre has filed an official lawsuit against Andrew in 2021. In the meantime, Andrew has denied this. But his mother, the queen, has stripped him of his royal patronages and military titles. His title “His Royal Highness” has also been removed. [2]

A Disaster for Both Sides

Brown states that Harry and Meghan’s departure was a “disaster for both sides” and that the couple made some “bad choices” and they could have left on better terms if they weren’t so “hotheaded.”

Brown’s comments on the Jubilee after Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, confirmed his plans to attend the event. But he added that he was unsure whether Meghan and Harry would be joining the celebration.

When questioned further on Dan Wootton Tonight, Thomas Markle said, “I’m getting the feeling that if they know I’m coming, they won’t be coming. But if they do come, I’d love to reach out and speak with them and try to figure out what went wrong and how we can repair it. I don’t see that happening, but I’d certainly like to try.

Talking with the Telegraph, Brown claimed that Meghan and Harry seem to be “addicted to drama”. She ascertains that Harry seems “completely and utterly taken over by Meghan and his whole personality has changed.” She concludes, “I do question how it will end. Maybe he’ll wake up and realize he’s living in Goop and he has to get the hell out, go down the pub and see his friends.[3]

To BBC, Brown states that she believes the palace will try to reel the couple back in. “They did represent a more modern, dare I use the word, more relatable, modern royal couple who could be deployed to connect more, essentially, with the younger generation. So losing them was actually quite a blow”. [4]
