Man Finds Safe Containing $7,500,000 Inside Storage Unit He Purchased For $500

A Premiere Daily Highlight Story: Sometimes there are stories that are just too amazing and note-worthy to keep locked away. That’s why we scour the archives and bring some of them back to experience again. They may surprise you, make you smile, or even shed a tear, but they’re always meant to add a little extra to your day.

Some people strike gold in the oddest of places. Just like this person, who, in 2018, found enough wealth to live luxuriously inside a storage unit. After purchasing the unit at auction in California for a measly sum of $500, he found a safe inside it that contained around $7.5 million. Now, although he was not allowed to keep the entirety of it- the sum was tidy enough. According to Dan Dotson, the TV Host for Storage Wars, this individual was only allowed to keep $1.2 million.

According to Ladbible, Dan Dotson commented on the incident, “An older Asian woman at the table next to me kept looking at me like she wanted to tell me something. Eventually, she walked up and told me her husband works with a guy who bought a unit from me for $500 and found a safe inside.

The woman further informed him that her spouse had taken the storage unit to a locksmith after that. After wrenching open the safe, they found $7.5 million in cash inside.

Finders- Keepers? Apparently Not In Respect With This Storage Unit

According to the information provided, an attorney got in touch with the woman. Representing the people who were the original owners of the storage, he offered the Asian couple a sum of $600,000 and hand over the rest. Incidentally, they declined it- after which the offer was raised to $1.2 million. Despite it not being as huge a sum as $7.5 million- it was still something.

Dotson had mentioned the entire story in a Twitter video. “The first person that they called to open the safe couldn’t, or didn’t. They called a second person and when that person opened it up… inside the safe they’re normally empty, but this time it wasn’t empty. It had $7.5 million cash inside.

Being a consummate professional, Dotson didn’t disclose any personal information about the safe. The co-star for the show Rene Nezhoda went on to say “If you find money like that, there’s a probably a reason it isn’t in the bank.” We can’t honestly judge them for thinking that the money came from something nefarious.

While some people would be shocked at the Asian couple not receiving the entirety of the amount, this wouldn’t be the only instance of it. In 2018, another couple had discovered a safe with jewelry worth $52,000. Rather than keeping it, they had returned it. The family that found it stated that their payment was good karma. So maybe, the Asian couple believed that their payment was a storage unit and $1.2 million in the bank?

What would you have done? Kept the money? Ran for the hills? Let us know in the comments?
