When Sergii Gordieiev decided to split the back wheel of his earlier bike design, it created a one-of-a-kind, fully functional ride. But, now he has decided to one-up his vision. This time, he has simply snubbed the round tires of a cycle and has come up with a bike with square wheels. This, if accomplished, would be one of the craziest projects that his team has ever built.
Regarding the materials, the team usually recycles them from discarded parts of other bikes in the workshop. Some of us may doubt his vision- wonder if this could even be possible under any realm. But Sergii swears by his vision- and he has already launched a video demo on April 9th, 2023. In the video, the engineer unraveled to the public how he had managed to create the magic in square tires.
Bike With Square Wheels- The Future Is Here?
In order to create the bike with square wheels, Sergii first creates the frame for it. Next, he would grab a steel slab and tear it into portions. Following that, he starts welding them together in order to create a square shape- where precision matters. His expertise shines as he sizes up the divisions and placement of all the screws. When he has worked on the frames, he next drills holes in the frames to inject the rods that would anchor the bike’s chain ring.
Next, he would start inserting the rods in the dedicated holes of the bike with square wheels- and further attach the chainrings- so that the square wheels would function properly. He would then add multiple rollable wheels between the chainrings that would help the chain’s rotation with ease. On the wheels’ exterior, he drags rectangular chains wrapped in tire rubber from a discarded bicycle. Once he added the final touches, the engineer made final tests where he wheels the bike and attached the square wheels onto his custom bike.
More Than Just A Publicity Stunt
The create is certain the bike with square wheels will grab a lot of attention. So, the engineer will go over to the nearby park in order to test the fully functional, custom bike with square wheels. The bike can easily weather the pavement as it moves through the asphalt path. One could also consider the constant sound emanating from the bike similar to a factory production unit. One may find the total load to be quite bulky at the end of it, considering the use of a lot of steel. However, the light-weight looking body of the bike could lift it up a bit.
In the video, one can hear Sergii state, “Please meet almost normal bicycle but with one modification – square wheels! This concept is fully working and you can ride and make turns. Lots of attention guaranteed.” Let’s hope that the bike with square wheels doesn’t get stolen before Sergii thinks about bringing it to the retail market.
