Cinema Replaces Seats With Double Beds

This movie theater in Switzerland changed the game. The cinema replaced those uncomfortable seats for double beds in the theater. So if you ever got a stiff neck or back after a movie, this is the perfect place for you. It combines the comfort of watching a movie in bed at home with the epic experience of the theater.

Cinema Replaces Seats With Double Beds

The ‘VIP Bedroom’ in Cinema Pathé in Spreitenbach costs 49 francs (USD 36.65) for admission tickets, including unlimited food and drinks. Plus, these ticket holders don’t need to line up to get their snacks. The headboards over the beds are electric, and the bedside tables are perfect for holding wine glasses. Additionally, warm slippers are given to each guest.

The beds are positioned perfectly for the best view of the screen, and each double bed is designed to give utmost privacy to the viewers. The mattresses are individual, orthopedic, and electrically adjustable. Next to them are induction chargers for tablets and smartphones. There are also storage areas under the bed. It’s like the benefits of a hotel room, all in a personal theater space. [1]

Of course, people’s dirty minds jump to conclusions when they hear about beds in a movie theater. The owner of the cinema ensures that the sheets are changed after every screening. The CEO of the theater, Venanzio Di Bacco, adds, “The hygiene aspect is very important to us.” He’s also not worried about people misbehaving in the beds. “The offer is unique in Switzerland. But we tested the concept abroad and had no problems so far.[2]

More Unique Cinema Experiences

The ‘VIP Bedroom’ isn’t the only new and interesting room at this cinema. They also have a theater for kids and their families with massive bean bags instead of chairs, a slide, and a ball pit. The lighting, volume, and selection of these films are adjusted to perfectly suit the little kids’ preferences. [3]

And if the idea of beds in the theater creeps you out, there’s the ‘VIP Lounge’ where single and double sofas replace the usual chairs. They are all covered in velvety fabric of vibrant colors. There are induction chargers for tablets and smartphones here as well. The front row is especially popular since it provides longer seats for the viewers to stretch their legs. Side tables provide lighting, and ample space for bags, snacks, and drinks. [4]

Cinema Pathé also offers waffles and crepes refreshment stands. When this was launched in 2019, Di Bacco said, “We want to offer both existing and new customers something innovative.

The cinema has since implemented safeguards from Covid-19 for its visitors. Therefore, wearing a mask is mandatory while inside the theater. To maintain this, drinking and eating are not allowed, so those interested in watching a film while munching on waffles will have to wait. To avoid lines, tickets are purchased online, and visitors are encouraged to leave as soon as possible after the screening. Additionally, to maintain social distancing, there must be one seat empty between each guest, limiting 50 people per screening. [5]

Other Amazing Movie Theaters

Many movie fans are itching to get back to the cinema after many closed during the lockdowns. If you’re looking for an extraordinary experience, there are more incredible cinemas worldwide, aside from this one that replaced its seats with double beds.

In Seoul, South Korea, the 4DX provides a 4D theater experience. It takes 3D films to the next level with its moving seeds, wind and water effects, and scents. Hot Tub Cinema is London-based, but they pop up all over the world. Instead of chairs, you sit in private hot tubs with friends as you watch your favorite films. [6]

If you miss the old-timey feel of a drive-in, Disney World in Orlando, Florida, provides the classic 1950s diner experience at their Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater. Guests sit in old-fashioned cars as they eat and watch clips of sci-fi movies.

Speaking of a classic theater experience, the Castro Theater in Sand Fransico was created in 1922. It’s a time capsule that preserves the art decorations of that age. Visitors can enjoy films, stage performances, and sing-alongs to classic musicals.

Meanwhile, Uplink X is one of the smallest movie theaters in Japan. There are only 40 seats available, with 10 different kinds of chairs that people could move around to socialize better. [7]
