Millionaire dad of seven says people struggling with cost of living crisis need to work harder

Where most of the world’s population is feeling the brunt of the high cost of living, there are some who just keep getting richer. A millionaire has made social media headlines for expressing an opinion that many people have had mixed feelings about. He says he is tired of listening to people moan about how expensive life has become, and that if they are struggling, they must ‘work harder.’

Millionaire does not feel the high cost of living

Barrie Drewitt Barlow is a 51-year-old father of seven. Many people are feeling apprehensive about the higher cost of living we’re facing. A family with seven children would usually have all the reason in the word to start saving their pennies, but not the Barlow family.

Not only is Barrie’s family able to live a seriously lavish life, living in a mansion in Florida, but their expenditure is about to increase even further. This is made possible because of Barrie’s line of business. The more the general public struggles, the more his business thrives. “The cost of living crisis only boosts my fortune,” he said in an interview with The Sun. “People are feeling the pinch and therefore need to purchase more economic household and personal care products. Moving away from the more luxury and expensive brands. This means they need the new products coming onto the marketplace that would have been tested through one of my consumer research companies.”

Barrie was married to a different man than his now-fiance, 27-year-old Scott Hutchinson. His ex-husband still lives in the same mansion with Barrie, but he stays with his new partner in a different wing of the house. Barrie and Scott have just welcomed a baby girl called Valentino.

Work harder and struggle less, he says

Barrie’s net worth is approximately $194,000,000. A humble person might not be able to shake of a certain sense of guilt for profiting off other people’s struggles— but not Barrie. He feels no guilt whatsoever. Barrie speaks about how others have questioned their freedom to spend, and how they openly brandish their lavish lifestyle. “We are often asked how we can be so out there with our spending when so many people are struggling right now in the world,” Barrie says.

Additionally, Barrie says that people should be working harder if they are struggling with the cost of living. “I’m sick of hearing people’s hard luck stories to be honest with you, there are always opportunities out there if you look for them and if I can do it, anyone can. Those that want to sit on their ass all day long, get what they deserve.” Although, he reassured the interviewer that he is a hard worker, and that was how he got to where he is today. “I work 19 hour days, every day of the week and as the old saying goes, work hard, play hard and I do both,” he said.

Many homes to look after

Barrie is not shy when it comes to purchasing property, even with the sky-high cost of living. He has seven different houses situated all over the world. This collection of houses includes two beach houses. One beach house in Florida is worth $11 million and the other is in Miami, and worth $6 million. Next, he owns a house in San Francisco worth 6.2 million as well as an apartment in Orlando worth $1.7 million. He has another apartment in Manchester, and a holiday house in Bangkok worth $2.8 million. Lastly, he is currently building another mansion in Essex.

You might have thought that’s enough for one family, but Barrie has his sight set on a house in another location. “I’m looking at Castles in Scotland and Wales at the moment,” he says, “As a weekend retreat“. Barrie enjoys decorating the bedrooms of his children. “We have had so much fun renovating. Our youngest daughter Valentina’s room has come in at around £150k with her new bed costing £38k alone and we haven’t even started on Romeo’s nursery yet.”
