Frozen in Time: Couple Finds Abandoned Cottage Deep in Woods

One vlogger cum urban explorer, Colin, recently came across an abandoned cottage that was located deep within the woods of a desolate forest. The cottage was situated in the middle of nowhere and was surrounded by dirt roads covered in debris and other waste materials. But that doesn’t mean that the cottage in itself was a waste of space- rather it is being considered as a gem in the middle of nowhere. When the explorer and his partner ventured inside the cottage, they assumed that nothing would be usable, and they would probably come across dead and decaying things. 

But when they went inside the abandoned cottage, they found out that the cottage was simply frozen in time, and everything looked like it had last been used in the early 90s. The house seemed to be waiting for its owner to return, for everything had been completely preserved. Speaking on YouTube, Colin mentioned, “This is what happens to a home when time stops and is left so nature can reclaim it. The house is a complete time capsule and is truly incredible! Seeing the wildlife literally taking over part of the bedroom was remarkable!”

The entire trip to this abandoned cottage was vlogged by the Bearded Explorer. The tour video started with him saying, “Hello guys and welcome back to the channel and welcome to a brand-new location. Today we are in the middle of the English countryside, and we’ve needed the 4×4 to get most of the way here, but sadly we’ve had to abandon it there, and we can’t drive any further due to these trees which have fallen down.”

Couple Finds Abandoned Cottage That Looked Like It Was Frozen In Time

When they reached the abandoned cottage, they realized that the cottage wasn’t the only thing out there- rather it seemed like a sort of outhouse for a bigger structure which they couldn’t see. Colin shared, “Okay, so we’re finally approaching the first building at this location. It’s some kind of an out-building, with a corrugated iron roof. Which kind of shows the age of this place.”

Although the visuals around the cottage were damp and grey, the cottage itself was surrounded by lush foliage, which did make it quite surreal. Colin expressed, “As you can see, it’s been completely taken over by nature, it’s almost invisible from certain locations. Like the top where we were earlier, you could quite easily drive past this without even knowing it’s here.” 

Interestingly, the explorers also managed to locate a bed inside the kitchen of this abandoned English cottage, which led to some theories. “Okay, so we’re finally approaching the first building at this location. It’s some kind of an out-building, with a corrugated iron roof. Which kind of shows the age of this place we’ve got a bed in the kitchen, I can only imagine that whoever was living here was … very, very elderly, and they needed to actually sleep in the kitchen. You know so he [wouldn’t have to] climb up stairs and things. It’s quite sad really.“

The abandoned cottage was shrouded in dense foliage, and it looked like it had been frozen in time- eagerly waiting for its owner to return. According to Colin, the last sign of the house being inhabited was a 1993 newspaper. Moreover, kitchen cupboards still had food as well as closets still being full of clothes. One must wonder, what forced the residents to leave this place behind.
