Jim Carrey Announces He’s Leaving Twitter With Strange Cartoon

The acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk has definitely left quite a bad taste in the mouths of certain individuals. Couple that with the rampant mismanagement since then, and several celebrities have already started leaving the platform. Famous actor Jim Carrey has also claimed that he is about to leave the social media platform.

But before he leaves, he has decided to use this platform to share the first cartoon he ever made- and quite possibly the last cartoon of his that Twitter will ever see. His tweet read, “I’m leaving Twitter, but first here’s a cartoon I made with my friend Jimmy Hayward. It’s based on my painting of a crazy old Lighthouse Keeper, standing naked in a storm, summoning the angels and shining his lamp to guide us through a treacherous night. I love you all so much!

Jim Carrey’s Last Tweet Before Leaving Twitter Is A Cartoon

For this cartoon, Jim Carrey partnered with Jimmy Hayward- the famous Canadian animator and director. He produced a unique piece of work that appears to be made through cel-shaded 3D models. The cartoon features a naked red-haired lighthouse keeper with a sea shanty. While the cartoon is quite simplistic, one can’t deny that the shanty seems to be a completely original work about angels as they guide ships through extremely dangerous nights.

Now, anyone who has been familiar with the work trajectory of Carrey will know that he is not known for animation pursuits. After becoming a household name with the movie Ace Ventura, he followed it up with roles in Dumb and Dumber, Bruce Almighty, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Recently, he has come to light for his role as Doctor Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

Jimmy Hayward, on the other hand, has been a pioneer in 3D animation. Unlike Jim Carrey, he was one of the first animators for the TV series Reboot. For those unaware, this was the first show where they used CGI to render the show entirely. After this show, he moved on to other projects like Pixar, where he was the lead animator in the first couple of Toy Story movies. He also worked on blockbuster movies like Monster’s Inc., A Bug’s Life, and Finding Nemo. Interestingly, the only non-animated feature that he has worked on is Jonah Hex.

Carrey Won’t Be The First Celeb To Leave Twitter Under Musk’s Regime

The announcement that Jim Carrey decided to leave Twitter didn’t seem to shock people anymore- as he had been quite a vociferous critic of Elon Musk since the latter acquired the social media site. When Musk first took over, Carrey went on to blast the multi-billionaire for banning users, charging $8 for verification, and firing almost half the staff. In this post, he also implied that anyone who paid that sum of money to get themselves verified was extremely gullible. And finally, he alleged that Musk’s plans of landing on Mars were nothing but a farce.

As it goes with Twitter, all of Jim Carrey’s tweets regarding Musk had the same responses as any other argumentative tweets. Some individuals responded with counter-arguments, while others delved into mockery. Nevertheless, several gave the comedy star a farewell- while others mocked him for still having an account even when he had made his plans of leaving quite clear.
