A Premiere Daily Highlight Story: Sometimes there are stories that are just too amazing and note-worthy to keep locked away. That’s why we scour the archives and bring some of them back to experience again. They may surprise you, make you smile, or even shed a tear, but they’re always meant to add a little extra to your day.
As we know, whales have been almost brought to extinction. But there are instances when humanity decides to be kind and gentle towards them. Let’s take a look at the kindness archives with this 2016 story where surfers rescued a baby whale.
In 2016, two surfers local to a beach in Costa Rica found a tiny whale that appeared to be crying. It could be understood that the whale had separated from its family- and was naturally quite scared. When the surfers came upon an odd-looking lump at the mouth of the river, they found out that the distressing cry was coming from it.
The Costa Rican Surfers’ Heroic Swimming
On the morning of that eventful day, Mauricio Camareno and his friends were out trying to catch some waves when fate dealt a hand. It is possible that if they hadn’t come across the baby whale, it could have died. But in a show of kindness, and brotherhood towards all things aquatic, the surfers took care of the poor animal.

Speaking to Amelia Rueda, Camareno stated, “She was very weak and could not keep afloat.” The surfers managed to carry the animal back to the open sea, but unfortunately, she was quite exhausted to swim properly.
With plans of surfing put on hold, they started swimming close to her. Not only that, but they also kept pouring water over her. This allowed her to breathe properly, as well as get some of her energy back. Soon, they took her to deep waters, where she swam off by herself.
We can’t deny the fact that humans are responsible for most of the destruction that takes place. But incidents like these prove that humanity is still left.
Even if it came in the form of a baby whale, there are people who would go out of their way to care for it. And this wasn’t done with any selfish desire in mind.
The surfers didn’t want the credit. Rather, they saw an animal needing help, and they rushed towards it.
For 6 hours, the surfers kept swimming and playing with the baby whale, all in the hopes that it would get her strength back. And she did. We hope this might encourage someone out there to act in kind.
