Tesla Owner Installs $2,500 Solar Trailer to Charge His Car While Driving

It may not be anything fancy and speed is not an option here, but Tesla owner and YouTube influencer, ItsYaBoi came up with a contraption so ingenious, it’s almost art. The influencer has built a large solar panel-equipped trailer that hitches to the back of his car. The panels charge the car’s battery, meaning he never has to pull over!

Taking roughly 40 hours to charge, it’s not some masterpiece of equipment, but it sure does the job

The Tesla owner smartly purchased his very own solar panels and installed them on the trailer, coming in at a cool $2,500. “So what we are going to do is get a trailer to attach the solar panels to the trailer. But we got to make sure they’re angled toward the Sun so we can maximize solar input. Is that a thing? I don’t know,” said ItsYeBoi in his video.

“Then we are going to attach the trailer to the Tesla. Charge the Tesla and create the world’s first solar trailer for Tesla charging.” He continued. Thinking about it, you would never have to charge your Tesla ever again if you had one of these. Pretty ingenious if you ask us!

The only downside would probably be the actual clunkiness of a trailer behind your Tesla

A little cumbersome in its infancy, pulling a heavy trailer around could become a little annoying in some circumstances. The vehicle range is now basically doubled, so parking could become a nightmare, and navigating traffic-filled highways may be a bit of a hassle too. These are points that need to be considered if you decide to take the plunge and build one yourself.

If you’re one of the fans, you may remember ItsYaBoi from his experiments on YouTube. The most famous of all definitely has to be where he fired a shot at a supposedly bulletproof Tesla. The Tesla owner sure seems to enjoy experimenting with his cars. Whether he’s just a curious individual or someone doing it for the fans, one can see why he has such a massive cult following.

We’re launching a brand new TESLA CHANNEL!! If you enjoy this content and love Tesla or Elon Musk you’re gonna love this channel! Check it out here.” Said the YouTuber in the comments. Some viewers had a thing or two to say as well. “Good “proof of concept”. Now make it efficient: Much smaller trailer, lower the panels, use high efficiency 400-watt panels, and use a charge controller to directly charge the tesla batteries. not outboard batteries then convert it twice.” said one.

As an electrical engineer, I find this video fascinating. Technically sketchy but not unlike 98% of the conversations I’ve had with people outside a technical field. It’s the idea I love and I appreciate an influencer using his resources and audience to introduce the concept of mobile charging, especially the limitations.” Commented another.
