In every car you have ever ridden, you must have noticed a handle on the inside right on top of each door. Did you know the actual purpose of that handle though? If you are like us, then you probably never even gave it a second thought.
However, Aimee, an 18-year-old Twitter user threw up a storm when she asked about the handles purposed She was truly confused and simply posted a photo of the bar, and asked the question: “What the f*** is this for?”[1]

The Mysterious Handle
Of course, the internet could not wait to start theorizing about what that particular bar is meant for. We may not know about it, but why in the world did we not think about it? Well, be that as it may, some considered it to be a useful tool to help with our sweaty regions when the weather is particularly hot:
But the one response that really blew up was also the most logical one. Here is the tweet:
Read: Common vintage tool is puzzling everyone. Can you guess what it was used for?
The Pittsburgh college student’s reply possibly blew away the mind of most of the viewers because of the logic behind it. Her response has been retweeted almost a hundred thousand times since being originally posted.
The rest of Twitter had immediately followed up on it, backing up her reason with their own stories:
Also, apparently, everyone in Texas actually knew about it and had their own word for it: “the oh sh*t handle”.
Or, for the ones who are more pious: “the Jesus bar”
Well, regardless of how we call it, it is very clear what that instrument is for. Honestly, one Twitter thinks that this foresight of car manufacturers is also ominous:
Hilarious and a bit scary at the same time, right? Anyway, now you know the first thing to grab when the drive becomes a bit too rough!
So what are they really for?
Hilarious Twitter theories aside, according to Technology.org there is a legitimate purpose. The handles, also known as ‘grab handles’ are for people to use to help get into and out of a vehicle. It’s as simple as this. Personally, I like the ‘oh sh*t’ handle theory myself. Oh well.
