Texas Man Caught On Camera Beating His Pet Dog Gets 25-Year Prison Sentence

Animal cruelty can be one of the worst faces of a human. And under the current judiciary system, it does carry a lengthy prison sentence. Recently, a 56-year-old man from San Antonio was caught on camera harming his young rottweiler. The police arrested the man from his home and then sentenced him to 25 years in prison.[1]

According to a news release issued by Animal Care Services, this is the longest punishment for animal cruelty. Frank Javier Fonseca received his first sentence a couple of months back, and his earlier felony convictions led to a larger sentence. The judge convicted Fonseca of crimes of retaliation as well as drug possession- both of which Texas heavily frowns upon.

Man Accused Of Animal Cruelty Gets Sentenced For 25 Years

The incident of animal cruelty took place in February of 2019 and a Samaritan happened to record it. The video showed the convict repeatedly assaulting his pet, Buddy, with a piece of wood and his fists. The video also focused on Fonseca trying to choke his dog. His reason for punishing the dog was that the dog had managed to exit the yard. The rottweiler has since then made a complete recovery from his injuries. And the ACS did make it a point to ensure that Buddy found a family who will adopt him. One can safely assume that the dog will carry the trauma, but one can hope that a new family would give him the love that he deserves.[2]

Animal cruelty is officially against the law in the united states. Harming a creature that can’t speak for itself is evil, and people need to receive their just punishments for that. In Texas, people can call 311 if they have witnessed any form of cruelty towards animals. If you’re not sure if you’re witnessing animal cruelty and you want to report it, visit the Humane Society website for more information.
