One woman pulled off the scam of the century when she duped a group of men into going on a Tinder date with her. The weird event took place in New York. However, as strange as the entire situation was, not one potential date realized what was going on. Only on Tinder could you pull something like this off.
The Tinder Scam
If you’ve ever had the pleasure/non-pleasure of being on Tinder, you know it is a wasteland of confusion. Reality takes a nose-dive while reading how people describe themselves in their bios. Eventually, if you’re lucky, you find someone who you may want to swipe right on. Hopefully, they will swipe right on you too, creating a match. Then you can both message each other and take things from there.
Natasha Aponte planned a month-long scam, using Tinder to lure unsuspecting men into a ‘Hunger Games’ type competition. How could anyone fall for something like this? Well, it was actually a pretty clever scheme, as one of her matches explains. Twitter user @bvdhai went through the entire process, from start to finish.
Apparently, Natasha matched with a bunch of random men and sent them all the same message. Then, she dropped off the grid for a couple of weeks. When she messaged the guys again, it was to invite them to meet her. The offer was too good to pass up for the majority of the men she matched with. Drinks and a DJ set at Union Square New York City sounds like a pretty good first date, so why not?
Elimination Round
When the guys who matched with Natasha on Tinder showed up, they were surrounded by other dudes who also were there for the same reason. But, none of them knew that just yet.
After waiting for a little over half an hour, a woman walks on stage and all the guys in the audience start to realize something is happening.

So, Natasha reveals to the audience that she knows they are all on Tinder. Naturally, this got the attention of the crowd because, yes, they were there from Tinder. But, how did this random woman on stage know that information?

The Reveal
Shocking the crowd, Natasha revealed her true identity and the purpose of this mass meetup.
Natasha called out to the crowd, “Do you have what it takes to compete against everyone here to win a date with me?” So, naturally, some of the men were pretty pissed off about the situation and therefore left. Others, however, chose to stay and participate. That is, of course, before they knew that there would be eliminations.
“The gist of it was she wanted to do Live Tinder. Folks were pretty mad,” a guy named Nicholas told NY Post.

“The first elimination is if you think you can support Trump and date a Puerto Rican, now’s the time to leave. If anyone’s a tourist or doesn’t live in this country, you should leave too. Also anyone named Jimmy. I don’t enjoy the name Jimmy.”
“Statistically, people who are on dating apps, half of them are in relationships. So those people should leave.”she continued.

According to reports from those who were at the event, Natasha would swipe right or left on people in the audience. After challenging them to do push-ups, some stayed for a sprinting challenge. So, it looks like these guys really wanted to get a shot at dating Natasha. Because, what good is having Tinder Hunger Games if you don’t win?
Was it a Scam or Brilliant Marketing?
It was never revealed if anyone actually won the date with Natasha. So, what was the point of the Live Tinder swiping game? Well, it seems like it might have been a genius marketing ploy.
Viral video marketer Rob Bliss of Rob Bliss Creative told the NY Post that his company was behind the project. Natasha’s Tinder idea might have been a viral video stunt, but it apparently holds significance to its creator.
Bliss wouldn’t reveal much more about the project, but said “no product or service of any kind” was involved, and that Natasha is a real single woman who is “passionate about this issue and has been harassed.”
