Tesla billionaire Elon Musk recently tweeted that the country faces a population crisis because people aren’t having enough children. He finished his tweet with a cheeky “I’m doing my part”. The world knew already that he had seven children, but now we know that he actually has nine. Last year, he welcomed twins with a top executive of his AI company, Shivon Zilis. This is what we know about Elon Musk and all of his children.

Elon Musk Welcomes Twins With One of His Top Executives
Earlier this week, Elon Musk surprised the world yet again with the discovery that he recently fathered twins with one of his top Neurolink executives, Shivon Zilis. The news broke because of leaked court documents that show the pair filed a petition to have the babies’ names changed to have their father’s last name and their mother’s last name as part of their middle names. Zilis gave birth to the twins in November in Austin, Texas, where she now lives. Their appeal to change the babies’ names was successful. (1)
Zilis gave birth to the babies just weeks before Musk fathered another child with his girlfriend at the time, the singer known as Grimes. Musk and Grimes welcomed their second child via surrogate. In one month, Musk went from having six children to now nine.

What We Know About Shivon Zilis
Though perhaps overshadowed by her famous billionaire baby daddy Elon Musk, 36-year-old Shivon Zilis is no slouch. Born in Canada, Zilis studied economics and philosophy at Yale University before going on to work for IBM. She is also considered to be one of the most brilliant minds in artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Currently, she is the director of operations and special projects at Musk’s AI company Neurolink.
In 2015, Forbes listed Zilis on their annual “Top 30 Under 30” list as the founding member of Bloomberg Beta. She is also on the board of OpenAI, a research organization co-founded by Musk. She has been working at Neurolink since May 2017.
Musk’s Children With Grimes
As we know, Musk also has welcomed two children with the songstress named Grimes. Grimes, or Claire Louise Boucher, is also from Canada. Their first child shot to stardom because of the incredibly strange name the couple gave him: X Æ A-12. Most of us still don’t know how it is supposed to be pronounced. (2)
The couple had their second child via a surrogate. The surrogate gave birth only a few weeks after Zilis gave birth to the twins. This baby is a girl named Exa Dark Sideræl. Musk and Grimes recently announced that they are no longer together via a tweet from Grimes’ account. She says, however, that the split is very amicable and that Musk is still her “best friend”.
Musk’s Children With Justine Wilson
Before all the fame and the billions of dollars, Musk met his first wife Justine Wilson while they were both attending the same university. Originally from South Africa, Musk moved to Canada when he was 17 to attend Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It was there that he met Wilson. So if you’re keeping track, yes: All three mothers of Musk’s children are Canadian.
Musk and Wilson were together for nearly a decade before Musk proposed. The pair were then married for eight years before they filed for divorce. Together, they have five children: Twins Vivian Jenna Wilson and Griffin Musk, and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian. They had a sixth baby boy in 2002, but unfortunately, he died at just 10 weeks old of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
Wilson and Musk’s’ divorce, however, was nowhere near as friendly as Grimes and Musk’s split. Wilson reportedly said that she felt like an “employee” throughout their marriage rather than a wife. Their divorce bitter and difficult.
Wilson, on her own, has also led a lustrous career as an author. She has published several books and has her own personal net worth of about $3 million.
One Of His Kids Wants Nothing To Do With Him
Many of us are quick to think about how great it would be to have the billionaire as a father. His 18-year-old daughter, however, begs to differ. She has changed her name to no longer include her father’s last name and wants nothing to do with him.
“I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form,” she said in a petition for her name change and new birth certificate. (3)
Vivian Jenna Wilson, once she turned 18, applied for both a gender change and a name change. She now chose to take her mother’s last name instead of her father’s. We don’t have any more details of the rift between the father and daughter. Musk, however, has spoken out asking for the public to give his daughter the privacy she has asked for.
“She does not want to be a public figure,” he said. “I think it is important to defend her right to privacy. Please don’t out someone against their will – it’s not right.”
