Have you ever seen a smiling, laughing dormouse? Well, this image taken by photographer Andrea Zampatti captures exactly that! Even though the little dormouse isn’t actually laughing and probably just having a big old yawn, the image is priceless! It was also chosen as a winner of the On Land category in the 2017 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards.
With winter drawing to a close and spring being around the corner, we thought this adorable image of a dormouse would definitely help bring in that spring feeling, even though it’s still pretty darn cold!
Don’t forget to check out Andrea’s social pages for more of his stunning wildlife images on Facebook and Instagram and, of course, on his Website.
How adorable is this laughing dormouse?
Zampatti is a talented photographer
Albeit, the photographer, takes spectacular photographs of more than just mice, of course. And, while his image of a dormouse is probably our favorite, with a wide range of beautiful wildlife photographs, it’s hard to pick! Take a look at some of his work below:
This great grey owl in flight sores above the snow
Although winter is a very difficult season for young Alpine chamois to pass, they seem to have a lot of fun running in the fresh snow!
This brown bear in Finland looks like he needs a big hug!
This spectacular image is of a Black grouse
This quirky photograph of an American Wapiti is a close favorite after the laughing dormouse!
The red squirrel, the elf of the woods! Every time I go back to the Enchanted Valley, Val Roseg (Switzerland), I remember the first few times I grabbed a camera and started photographing animals. What a wonderful place! I always gladly come back to have fun surrounded by squirrels and tits without having to exhaust myself as most of the time!

And finally, after a long wait, the season of my favorite animal, my idol, the King of woods and clearings … is coming!
The scent of love is already in the forests ready for the upcoming autumn.
This year a new adventure is waiting for me in the Scottish Highlands, a week of pure nature, lifeblood that I miss from too much time.
I, them, my tent, the endless landscapes full of stories and legends, and my friend Denis Bertanzetti who will share this experience with me.
