We all know that Maine Coons can grow into small giants, but this one must have taken full advantage of that reputation since people mistake him for a dog. Kefir has not even completely grown yet. Kefir, the world’s largest cat, has arrived!
This cat is the size of a dog — yet as charming as a baby. A gentle giant, if you will.
The World’s Largest Cat Is Still Growing
A little under two years old, a Maine Coone from Stary Oskol in eastern Russia is believed to be the world’s largest kitty – with maybe years more before he stops growing.
Yulia Minina called her alabaster tomcat Kefir — after the creamy cultured milk drink — two years and several kilos ago. Kefir is less than two years old and already weighs approximately 28 pounds.
That’s a lot when you consider the average Maine Coon male may weigh up to 18lbs and will continue to grow until he’s 3-4 years old. I can’t even picture how big he will grow! But that does not seem to worry his human, who appears to be content to cuddle with the world’s largest furball. In any case, even she was taken aback by how big Kefir is getting!
Despite his size, Kefir won’t harm a fly. He lives in the small Russian town of Stary Oskol with his mother/owner, Yuliya Minina. Yuliya, who is overjoyed that her furry companion has become an Internet phenomenon owing to his size, says she never expected this outcome when she first met Kefir two years ago.
Kefir’s owner remarked that her hairy cat child may appear frightening, but he is a darling. He is extraordinarily intelligent and empathetic. Unlike most cats, he does not enjoy destroying furniture, howling, or pushing objects away.
Kefir’s owner feels that he is the ideal cat.

The Maine Coon Is Larger Than A Lot Of Dogs
People frequently mistake Kefir for a dog, according to the young girl. She finds people who appear perplexed hilarious. She said that most people confuse Kefir for a dog. When she corrects them, they’re still baffled! At first glance, infant Kefir does seem to resemble a little dog.
Living with such a massive kitty is certainly wonderful for Yuliya, but sharing her bed with him has become a bit uncomfortable in recent months!
Yuliya revealed that since Kefir has grown in size, it is very difficult for her to sleep with him. The poor baby does not realize that he has grown in size. He is still the sweet angel that wants to sleep on his mommy.
Yuliya frequently posts images and videos of herself and her kitten on Instagram and Tik Tok, where Kefir is an emerging sensation.
