A 60,000 Person City Is Under Consideration To Be Opened In The Middle Of The Sea

Lazzarini, a design studio in Italy, has several plans for the creation of a floating, turtle-shaped city. It will be able to accommodate up to 60,000 guests. This small city will have everything- parks, hotels, shopping centers, and even a plane runway. Furthermore, all of it would function strictly on solar power.

The floating city will have the name ‘Pangeos’. It will also be the first ‘terayacht’. According to estimations, it will take close to 8 years to build it. It would cost a sum of 6.8 billion pounds. The city will have dimensions of 1800 feet in length and 2000 feet in width. And if the plan does come to fruition in the near future, this city will definitely be the largest floating structure that mankind has ever built.

The company further mentioned that in order to actually build Pangeos, they will also have to build a huge shipyard. Also, the funds for the floating city will come entirely and strictly from an NFT-related crowdfunding period. Hence, no world government will be donating any sums. The company further shared, β€œThe virtual spaces of the watercraft can also be purchased under an NFT collection, and users will be able to collect certain content and access the virtual properties with their credentials.”

Lazzarini went on to add, β€œA Terayacht needs a Terashipyard: the conception of a similar sized vessel involves the realization of a specific shipyard/dam infrastructure that floods to levitate the terayacht when it will be launched. The imagined Terashipyard infrastructure is 650 meters wide and 600 meters long, providing direct access to the sea.”

The supersized hull of the Pangeos will have further subdivisions consisting of a bunch of different blocks. It will also feature nine separate bows. Lazzarini went on to explain, β€œPushed from a jet drive transmission, the tera-structure will be able to cruise at a speed of five knots. While sailing, the large wings will gain energy from the breaking of the waves and Pangeos will cruise perpetually without emissions around the planet Earth seas. Further, the rooftop area is lined with solar panels, which provide part of the necessary clean energy to power the terayacht.”

Interestingly, the accommodation included in Pangeos will not only include apartments, super villas, and normal houses, but it will also include royal palaces. And if you are curious about the name of the terayacht, Lazzarini mentioned, β€œThe terayacht proposal takes its name from Pangea, the supercontinent that existed millions of years ago during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras. If realized, the turtle-shaped vessel will become the world’s largest floating structure ever built.”

Needless to say, if anyone ever builds Pangeos, the influx of passengers would be swift, yet small. For, one can assume that the cost of living in this city will be sky-high, reminiscent of any cyber-punk novel that you would read.Β
