Musk hinted about the vehicle’s amphibious capabilities way back to 2020, mentioning it could briefly serve as a boat for crossing rivers and lakes. However, public skepticism remains despite Musk’s latest tweet.

Tesla’s Cybertruck is not just designed to cross water but can drive in water over two feet deep, thanks to a “Wade Mode”.2 This unique feature pressurizes the battery, enabling the truck to traverse smaller bodies of water when necessary. To make the aquatic journey possible, Tesla is reportedly offering a “mod package” to enable it to cross up to 100 meters of water.3 The proposed upgrade mainly involves enhancing cabin door seals.
