Jeffrey Epstein is a household name now, and not for good reasons. Since the truth came out about the late multi-millionaire’s sex trafficking ring and solicitation of sex from minors, other famous people who had dealings or relationships with Epstein have been exposed. One of the most shocking of these is the Microsoft founder and billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates. His ex-wife recently broke her silence about her ex-husband’s dealings with the criminal.
Melinda Gates Speaks About Bill Gates’ Relationship With Jeffrey Epstein
Last year brought us one of the most high-profile breakups we have seen in a while. I am referring to, of course, when Melinda Gates filed for divorce from her now ex-husband Bill Gates. The pair had been the ultimate power couple in the philanthropy space for many years. For many of us, their divorce came as quite a shock. For those close to the couple, however, it was not.
Naturally, both Bill and Melinda have been questioned many times about the reasons behind their divorce. As always with these situations, there is not one single reason but many small things that add up together to create an unhappy marriage. Melinda Gates recently revealed in an interview that one of those things for her was Bill’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. (1)
An Evil Man
During an interview on CBS Mornings, host Gayle King asked Melinda how she felt about her ex-husband’s meetings with criminal and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Melinda responded by telling Gayle that she did not like the meetings and made it clear to Bill how she felt.
“As I said it’s not one thing, it was many things, but I did not like that he’d had meetings with Jeffrey Epstein,” the philanthropist, 57, said in the interview speaking of her divorce. “I made that clear to him.”
Melinda went on to explain that she, herself, actually met the man once. By the time Bill Gates was having meetings with Epstein, he had already been to jail once for soliciting sex from a minor. Melinda said that was curious to find out who this man was, but regretted it the moment she set foot in the room.
“I wanted to see who this man was and I regretted it from the second I stepped in the door,” she said. “He was abhorrent. He was evil personified. I had nightmares about it afterwards. My heart breaks for these young women.”
An inside source told PEOPLE magazine the same thing. That Melinda was completely against any business deals with the late sex offender among other business dealings of Bill’s. They also said that Melinda was not afraid to stand up to Bill and tell him so.

Bill’s Connection With Jeffrey Epstein
Of course, Bill’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein is not new news. Gates himself has spoken many times about how he regrets ever having meetings with the man. He has explained in interviews that Epstein reached out to Bill to tell him that he had some proposals or connections to help Bill gain access to billions for his various causes. Bill was interested, so met with Epstein on several occasions. He says that when it was clear that these connections were not ever going to come to fruition, Bill cut ties with the man. (1)
Bill’s spokesperson has made it clear that he never went to parties with Epstein or had a personal relationship with him. Their meetings were strictly about business. They confirmed that when it was clear Epstein was all talk, the meetings ended.
Melinda’s Thoughts On The Divorce
Whether you’re a billionaire and one of the world’s smartest women or not, divorce is not an easy situation. Melinda really opened up to Gayle in her interview about how hard the divorce was. After all, she was going through the same emotions any recent divorcee would go through, only hers was one of the most highly publicized divorces of the decade.
“It’s really important to say look I had a lot of tears for many days, I mean, days where I’m literally laying on the floor of the carpet, this close to me,” she said holding the palm of her hand to face, “thinking ‘How can this be? How can I get up? How am I going to move forward?’…. “You’re grieving a loss of something you thought you had and thought you had for your lifetime. This is painful stuff.” (2)
